Please join us in supporting the Wingspace Relief Fund, providing unrestricted rapid relief microgrants to freelance designers and dramaturges experiencing acute financial strain related to COVID-19.

The fund is a project of Wingspace Theatrical Design and is fiscally sponsored by Notch Theatre Company. It was launched with a $15,000 donation, thanks to the generosity of a fervent supporter of New York theater companies and independent artists. We have been blown away by the initial response to the fund. Contributions exceeded the launch goal and allowed us to provide microgrants to over 100 freelance designers! We are now asking for your help as we continue to fundraise for the next round of microgrants, which are inviting applications from dramaturges as well as designers.

If you are an NYC-based freelance theater designer or dramaturge who is not affiliated with an institution and does not have access to unemployment insurance benefits or a financial safety net, this fund is for you. The application is currently at capacity and another round of disbursements will be made as soon as we reach our next fundraising goal of $60,000 so please click this link to be added to the application waitlist. We strive to meet all the expressed needs of our community and will continue to fundraise and release microgrants of $100-$500 through summer 2020.

Grant size is based on the number of people who apply. Depending on funding levels and amount of requests, priority may be given to individuals from communities that have been historically and systemically economically disadvantaged:  Black, Indigenous, People of Color, Trans and Non-binary, individuals over 60, low-income, individuals with disabilities and others who may be disproportionately impacted. That said, we will try to help as many freelance designers and dramaturges with need until we run out of funds. If you have already received funds you may apply again. However please note that those not yet funded may be prioritized.

Funds will be sent from Notch Theatre Company (notchtheatre.org) to the mailing address you provide in your application. Notch, which serves as an accountability and oversight partner, is a 501(c)(3) organization and if you are interested in making a larger, tax-deductible donation to the fund please use this link to donate directly through Notch. There is no processing fee to donate on Notch's portal. You can also mail a check to Notch Theatre Company at 226. E. 27th St., Ste 5A, New York, NY 10016 with "Relief Fund" in the memo.

Thank you for contributing to the fund and to ensuring the continued health and vibrancy of our community. Our village is strong- let’s make sure we take care of the most vulnerable among us!
