A real opportunity to drive meaningful change!
The tourism industry in Asia Pacific has a chronic labour shortfall in front-line staff. This combined with the increasingly shocking numbers of vulnerable youth living in extreme poverty, presents PATA Foundation with a real opportunity to drive meaningful change, and have a positive impact on the lives of thousands.
The opportunity to help train these young people in employability skills has inspired us to develop a Micro Learning project, a project that requires immediate funding – and this is why we are asking for your help. Join us in pilotting the use of digital micro learning to reinforce technical skills development and foster the development of the 21st century employability skills needed to succeed obtaining and maintaining employment.
Micro Learning for Macro Impact
We are focusing on the skills deemed most relevant by employers, with a lens towards post-COVID recovery, including cross-cultural communications, problem-solving, teamwork, leadership and health & hygiene.
Our focus on deployment though a digital platform is especially applicable in 2020. Should a second wave require schools to close again, this project will enable students to continue their skills training remotely using mobile technology. The digital deployment also makes this project ripe for scale, with funding being the only barrier to expansion with vocational training partners across Asia Pacific.
Working through this sector provides a real path for vulnerable and impoverished youth to obtain steady employment and build a secure economic future. At the same time, the availability of qualified staff will, we believe, be an important contributor to the preservation and, ultimately, re-building of the travel and tourism industry and recovery in service-based economies.
It's a true win-win!
In these challenging times, we're taking a new approach to giving - micro giving. Your donation, of whatever feels right to you, will combine with donations from across our industry to bring this vision to life!
The cost per student is only $112!
