As an elementary school educator, I value not only childhood education, but a lifetime of learning. This is why I want to support and raise funding for Framingham Adult ESL. Framingham Adult English as a Second Language (ESL) provides services primarily in ESL, but also in many areas such as job training, technology skills, and counseling.
Framingham Adult ESL Plus has 750 students. They offer 32 ESL classes and four levels of high school equivalency each semester. The demand for ESL classes is huge: the last time the program had registration for ESL, they had less than 100 available spaces, and more than 800 people showed up hoping to register. The students come from many cultures and faiths, all working together towards the same goal- to learn the language and math skills needed to help build their lives in the U.S. Framingham Adult ESL has students from 42 countries, speaking 29 different languages- 30 if you count the English they are learning!
I want to share the spirit of the Boston Marathon by giving back to the community that I teach in. There are many students I work with who are part of families with English as a second language. My hope is that I can support an extended community of learners by raising funds to allow more adults to access these important services.
Thank you in advance for your support!
