Hi Friends and Family!
I am so excited to announce that my second marathon will be the 2018 Boston Marathon in support of The Michael Lisnow Respite Center. The Respite Center has several programs that provide services to children and adults with disabilities. These programs include an Adult Day Program, Weekend Respite, After School Care, Day Care (birth - 3yrs), Employment Support for Individuals with Disabilities and Residential Placements.
The Michael Lisnow Respite Center is one of the places that provides the necessary care and support for a child with disabilities and their family. The center is truly a place of love, care, and compassion, servicing hundreds of families. I currently work at a school for students with severe and multiple disabilities/complex health care needs. The students I work with are some of the most wonderful people I know. I am incredibly honored to give back a little of what my students give to me by running for an organization that supports other children with disabilities.
The Respite Center's goal is to continue to increase respite and support services for families trying to survive the challenges of raising a child with disabilities. Last year the Respite Center raised just over $590,000 with a team of 72 runners. These funds made it possible to grant scholarships and also provide over 40,000 hours of service to families in need.
