In 2017, I had the honor of running the Boston Marathon for Team Michael's Miracle. It was the very best day of my entire life, and the biggest reason behind this was running for the center. I first would like to say that the community the the Michael Lisnow Respite Center creates surrounding both their programs and their running team is unbelievable. I could tell a million stories about every step I took in training and in the marathon last year, but the moment I knew that I wanted to run for the Lisnow Center again was at Mile 12. Mile 12 is a mile that often brings challenges to me in a marathon, it's the moment where I realize I am not half way yet. As I was overcoming that challenge I saw a woman in a black Michael's Miracle t-shirt. She was cheering on every runner, but when she saw me she called me over. I approached, removed my head phones, and she said, "I want you to know that what you're doing, running this marathon, you're making my child's life possible."
The Michael Lisnow Respite Center makes a humongous impact on everyone who uses their services and it is an honor to be just a small part of that.

The Michael's Miracle Marathon Team is a Boston Marathon team to benefit The Michael Lisnow Respite Center. The Respite Center, located in Hopkinton just a mile from the starting line, is an official B.A.A. charity that provides services for children and adults with disabilities. We have several programs which include our Adult Day Program, Weekend Respite, After School Care, Day Care (birth - 3yrs), Employment Support for Individuals with Disabilities and Residential Placements.
As we begin 2018 and our 19th Boston Marathon season, our goal is to continue to increase respite and support services for families trying to survive the challenges of raising a child with disabilities. Last year the Respite Center raised just over $590,000 with a team of 72 runners. These funds made it possible to grant scholarships and also provide over 40,000 hours of service to families in need.
