Michael Malone and his husband of 17 years, Brian O'Connor (Los Angeles / Palm Springs) have been active members, supporters and fundraisers of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) for more than 15 years.
Sadly, Mike passed away in his sleep (peacefully), but very unexpectedly on May 15, 2020 from what was determined to be natural causes. The world lost a kind, caring and compassionate man.
As Federal Club Council members, Mike and Brian were often Table Captains for the LA Gala Dinner, National Dinner and were frequent attendees of the Major Donor Summit. One of their favorites events of the year was always the Palm Springs Garden Party.
In January 2019, Mike retired from The Walt Disney Company, after having served in finance roles for more than 37 years.
It was a source of great pride for Mike to have worked at a company that was a leader and corporate champion for diversity. Disney was one of the first major entertainment companies to score a perfect 100 on HRC's Corporate Equality Index (CEI).
As a director for Disney Employee Benefits, Mike was instrumental in securing company approval for HRC to be recognized as a non-profit organization eligble to receive Disney Employee Matching Gift contributions.
The mission of HRC remains important now more than ever. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end discrimination against LGBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.
Mike's husband Brian invites you to make a contribution in his memory in support of the important work of HRC and the mission towards EQUALITY for all people.
