My name is Jenny Griggs and I am running my first ever marathon! Please help me raise money for a great institution - the MetroWest YMCA - and support me in this challenging and exciting venture!
I am currently transitioning from maternity leave back to my full-time position in the healthcare industry. Although juggling the needs of our brand new baby girl Scarlett and inquisitive 3-year old Danny can be exhausting, I am inspired by my family to do something for myself and my community. I want to be a role model for my children, husband, and my mom and to be the healthiest me I can be.
I have always admired marathoners and am inspired each Patriot’s Day by their athleticism, strength, dedication, and concentration. I’ve run a few 5Ks and a half marathon, but I am primarily a leisure runner. Several years ago I started to train for a marathon but dropped out and ended up supporting my husband’s training. I am confident that this is my year! My husband is supporting my marathon goal. I am mentally and physically prepared and 100% committed to running the 2019 Boston Marathon. But, I need your help.
While on maternity leave I joined MetroWest YMCA primarily to take advantage of their toddler programs and get to back in shape. However, they offered so much more than an athletic facility. I was impressed with the quality of their programs such as:
• Mental and physical wellbeing
• Nutritional counseling and support for those with chronic conditions such as Parkinson’s and diabetes.
• Youth development through early education
• Summer camp for at-risk youths
• Financial assistance and subsidized programs for struggling families
What is dearest to me is their community of respect and diversity. A community of diverse ages, ethnicities, and families of varying socioeconomic backgrounds. I was not aware of this kind of haven growing up, but I am so fortunate to have found this in my neighborhood. Especially in our current atmosphere, where it’s more important than ever that we help each other nurture, respect and help all individuals.
I need your support
There are two ways to qualify for the Boston Marathon. I am not an elite athlete (yet), so I need to raise funds for my charity – MetroWest YMCA. Please consider helping me reach my fundraising goal of $8,000. I know many organizations are in need of resources but please consider this one, which has an incredible impact on my community. Thanks in advance for your generosity!

Summer camps and Counselor in Training
And, to support adults' health and wellness goals of adults, we offer:

And thanks to your generous donation, all of these programs, and more, are available to individuals and families, regardless of their current economic circumstances. Thank you for helping us all grow stronger, together.
