On Saturday, July 27th, I will be participating in my second and the 10th annual Run to Home Base, running 9K in the city of Boston alongside friends and family and thousands of other people raising funds and awareness for healing the invisible wounds for Veterans, Service Members and their Families through world-class clinical care, wellness, education and research. I'm looking forward to crossing home plate in Fenway Park knowing that our team (Team Burrito, returning for its 10th year!) will have contributed to this important cause thanks to this unique partnership between the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital.
Since inception, the Home Base program has served more than 15,500 Veterans and family members with care and support (at no cost to them) and trained more than 67,500 clinicians, educators and community members across the nation and remains at the forefront of discovering new treatments devoted to healing invisible wounds such as post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, anxiety, depression, co-occurring substance use disorder, military sexual trauma, family relationship challenges and other issues associated with military service.
I ask you to please consider supporting my run for this worthy cause - any donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated!
Also, I welcome you to join in the fun with us at Fenway on July 27th to watch from the stands as runners stream into the park, and enjoy food, entertainment and fun family activities!
Thank you so much for your support!
Team Capitain, Meredith Kay writes:
We are a group of friends and family members dedicated to supporting our nation's veterans. By participating in the Run to Home Base year after year, we hope to spread awareness of the struggles of post-military life and encourage the pursuit of overall health and wellness for the veteran and their family members via Home Base's unique programs. This is our TENTH YEAR with this event, and we plan to make our fundraising efforts a huge success!
