Mandaeism is one of the world’s oldest religions. We, mandaeans, have lived primarily in the Middle East for ages. Terrorist attacks forced our families to migrate to various countries. Here, in Worcester, MA, we are trying to rebuild our community, proving, against all the odds, that we are capable of continuing our traditions, passing on our history, and living in peace.
Slowly, Mandaean parents are coming together, and small communities across the globe, from Worcester to Stockholm, are blossoming. The brightest future may not yet be guaranteed, but Mandaean-run non profit organization, like the Mandaean Community of Massachusetts, are taking steps in the right direction with small events such as educational lectures, and open office doors to discuss all kinds of community problems.
We have made all of this progress while renting a single room with the help of a neighborhood organization. We need to purchase a building to bring our community closer together, teach our religion to the younger generation, as well as practice our religion.
