I have never been a runner in my life. I grew up playing sports with kids on the street; soccer, baseball, football and hockey. Running was something you did to get away from your brother chasing you or chasing down the ice cream truck. Running was never something I thought about doing, especially distance running. Growing up, I listened to people tell me how much fun running was, but it never interested me. As I got older, I started to realize that maybe these people were onto something. I started doing 5 Ks and realized hey this is not too bad! I decided to run my first marathon with help and guidance from My friend Ashley. After that race, I was hooked and ran several half marathons with friends or by myself. I absolutely love the feeling of accomplishment crossing the finish line at a half marathon.
This year, I decided I wanted to run my first full marathon in Newport, Rhode Island. Since making this decision, I decided I wanted to raise money for something I believe in. The MSPCA helps abusive animals and helps to change the laws to penalize the people who abuse them. You can turn on the news and hear about dogs and cat malnourished, abused or just thrown out of a moving car. How people can just treat animals with no respect or love really bothers me. I feel in my heart that these animals cannot talk and ask for help, so I decided that I would be their voice.
To meet my goal of raising $3,000.00 to help the MSPCA assist these poor, defensive animals, I am asking for your help. Any donation, small or large is a step closer to giving these innocent animals a chance at a better life. Please follow the link below to make a donation. Thank you so much for your time to read my story and consideration for contributing to this cause!
