54 runners. 54 Islands – one cause. #54Strong.
On the 6th September 2017, Hurricane Irma passed over the 54 islands of the British Virgin Islands. Recorded as the most powerful category 5 Atlantic hurricane in history, Irma caused widespread catastrophic damage. Less than two weeks later on the 18th of September, the wrecked islands felt the outer bands of Hurricane Maria, suffering further destruction to the fragile infrastructure.
For the 30,000+/- residents, it is clear the road to recovery will be a long and painful path.
54 Strong has been established to bring together 54 runners to participate in the Miami Marathon (or 1/2 Marathon), thereby helping the 54 islands on their path to recovery. Held on the 28th January 2018 in Miami, the 54 strong group will be enduring a few hours of pain in order to raise funds for those in need in the British Virgin Islands.
Please help me provide some much needed help to the BVI!
