I have gone to summer camp for as long as I can remember, and one camp became my home away from home: Willow Springs. Over the last few years, I went to camp as a CIT, and in my first CIT session, we were playing a game on the field when I tripped and cut my leg. I realized then that the field is more of a dirt patch - fraught with tripping hazards and an ant hill near the water spigot.
My goal is to give back to the camp by improving the field so future campers can fully enjoy nature without worrying about the sting of a cut or bruise. To do this, I am looking researching types of grass seed that require less water so it is cost effective for the camp, as well as a manageable system to water the field, since every field-type grass needs some amount of water. The foundation for this project though is soil, seed, and tools to help lay them out on the field. These materials, along with the supplies for the watering system, will be where donations go towards.
