In Ukraine, parents of children with special needs are encouraged to hand their children over to state care. They are told their children are a burden on society. Children are sent to institutions where they are subjected to abuse and neglect. There is minimal support available to parents who fight to keep their children with them. Maya's Hope wants to help relieve some of the burdens on these amazing parents and assist in keeping children with their families, where they belong.
Arthur and his twin sister were born prematurely at 29 weeks. Shortly after birth he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy (spastic tetraparesis) and epilepsy. To meet his dietary needs he requires 2 different types of formula – Resource Junior and Peptamen. He also needs regular and emergency medications.
Doctors are concerned that Arthur is struggling to maintain his weight. They want him to undergo further investigations to rule out an underlying metabolic disorder. These tests are an unexpected expense for his family and they have asked for our assistance.
Can you help this wonderful family get answers for their son?
