In Ukraine, parents of children with special needs are encouraged to hand their children over to state care. They are told their children are a burden on society. Children are sent to institutions where they are subjected to abuse and neglect. There is minimal support available to parents who fight to keep their children with them. Maya's Hope wants to help relieve some of the burden on these amazing parents and assist in keeping children with their families, where they belong.
We would like to introduce you to a very special family. Papa, Anton, was a window installer. He fell 6 stories, fracturing his spine. As a result he has limited movement in his lower body and uses a wheelchair for mobility. Mama, Katya, has osteogenesis imperfecta (also known as brittle bone disease). They met at a rehabilitation center and fell in love. Both parents are studying at university in Kyiv, Anton also works there part-time. Their little miracle baby, Dasha, was born 5 months ago. Because osteogenesis imperfecta is an inherited genetic condition, doctors have prescribed her several bone strengthening medications and vitamins. She also needs formula and diapers.
We want to support this beautiful little family during this difficult time. We are raising funds to provide Dasha with medicines, vitamins, formula and diapers for the next 3 months. This will be a huge help to her family! Want to help?
