In Ukraine, parents of children with special needs are encouraged to hand their children over to state care. They are told their children are a burden on society. Children are sent to institutions where they are subjected to abuse and neglect. There is minimal support available to parents who fight to keep their children with them. Maya's Hope wants to help relieve some of the burden on these amazing parents and assist in keeping children with their families, where they belong.
Adelina was born two months ahead of schedule with a body weight of only one and a half kilograms. From the first days of her life, the girl fights intrauterine infection. The infection attacked the eyes, then spread to the lungs, causing pneumonia. The antibiotics were exchanged for one another, but meningitis (inflammation of the lining of the brain) could not be avoided.
Now Adeline is 1.5 months old. She has not yet been at home, as she continues to fight the infection. Not so long ago, anemia was diagnosed. But in general, her condition is improving every day. During her stay in the hospital, Adeline gained 400 grams. The doctors' predictions are favorable, but only on the condition that she is provided with all the necessary medications.
Adelina is the third child in the family. Her father does not participate in the treatment of his daughter and now lives separately.
During a month and a half in the hospital, all of her mother's funds have run out. She asks for help to save her daughter.
She needs medicines (antibiotics, medicines for digestion and for increasing hemoglobin), formula and diapers.
