In Ukraine, parents of children with special needs are encouraged to hand their children over to state care. They are told their children are a burden on society. Children are sent to institutions where they are subjected to abuse and neglect. There is minimal support available to parents who fight to keep their children with them. Maya's Hope wants to help relieve some of the burden on these amazing parents and assist in keeping children with their families, where they belong.
Andrey is 8 years old and has Autism, Elhers-Danlos syndrome and a metabolic disorder.
Andrey has an older sister who has Arnold-Chiari malformation and epilepsy. She is 18. His mother brings up the children alone because their father left the family. She is unable to work due as there is nobody else to care for Andrey. The little money they have is often not enough even for the most basic things.
Andrey is in need of medications and dietary supplements to keep his conditions stable. Can you help us support this family for the next three months?
Update: Andrey's mother contacted us "Good morning! Tell me, please, will we be able to ask for orthopedic instead of medicines next month? The orthopedist strongly recommended wearing orthopedic shoes even at home. Andrey started having severe pains in his legs (heels, knees, muscles). And without special shoes the situation will only get worse. We can not afford such a purchase. 😔 Thank you very much in advance!!" We don't want Andrey to go without his medicines so we told her we can purchase his medicines and shoes! Can you help us reach our goal?
Want to join me in supporting a good cause? I'm raising money for Maya's Hope and your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate $5 or $500. Every little bit helps. Thank you for your support. I've included information about Maya's Hope below.
