Help "Bridge the Gala Gap".
Due to COVID-19, Meals on Wheels has experienced numerous setbacks to their organization:
For starters, they are unable to host their annual fund raiser that normally takes place in the fall and helps provide the majority of the funding that the organization needs to be in operation year round. In addition, Meals on Wheels has seen a huge spike in the number of people in need of a meal since the start of COVID-19 (60 clients a day). This includes elderly people that have no other means of getting out to the store because they can't afford to put their health at risk by venturing out and possibly getting infected. To make matters worse, the pandemic has caused a shortage in volunteers for the organization, which are the only means of delivery. As a result, Meals on Wheels of New Rochelle is lacking funding for their organization to provide neccessary daily meals to people in desperate need.
Meals on Wheels of New Rochelle is an independent non-profit organization incorporated in 1983 that works to deliver daily meals to home bound men and women that have no other means of getting their food otherwise in New Rochelle, NY. The organization has a long standing relationship with Montefiore Hospital who is able to prepare the meals that need to be delivered. The organization has thoughful volunteers not only make delviery but also provide a sense of comfort and companionship to their clients. In many instances, this interaction with a Meals on Wheels volunteer is the one of the few interactions a client will have the pleasure of experiencing throughout the day. This goes along with Meals on Wheels slogan of providing "More than a Meal".
We ask that you assist them in their effforts and for you too to provide "More than a Meal" by donating to the campaign.
