Due to the current state of Emergency, L.amar County Human Resources, Inc. is seeing both an increase in need in the 5 counties we serve (Lamar, Red River, Delta, Hopkins, and Rains) and experiencing an increase in expenses, mostly due to an increase in raw food cost and an anticipated inability of being able to obtain our current menu items.
In the last 24 hours we have seen a 100% increase in the number of seniors, disabled individuals, and veterans calling in to request meals for the first time. We anticipate this trend to continue in the coming weeks.
While the State may release additional funds, that has not happened yet and will not reflect the increase in expenses during this time.
The agency has a goal of $5000 by April 1st. This will allow us to feed aproximately 40 indidividuals, who may not otherwise be served in April.
It is our goal to ensure we are able to feed every single senior, disabled individual, and veteran in need and in order to do that we need your help. Additional information may be found on our Facebook page LCHRC Meals on Wheels or Lamar County Meals on Wheels, by emailing Executive Director Shelly Braziel at firstname.lastname@example.org or calling (903) 784-2580.
