Dear Play Marin Community,
Once again we are pivoting to support youth and families beyond our core work in diversity through play. We are reaching out to you to help us fill another need created by this pandemic.
As you know, students, families, and educators from all walks of life are struggling with distance learning. Many families do not have the resources to provide the crucial additional support their children need for academic success during this time. Play Marin has partnered with Bridge the Gap College Prep, The Marin City Community Services District, Willow Creek Academy Education Team, Marin City Library, and Conscious Kitchen to create the Marin City Community Learning Hubs. Prioritizing students who struggled last spring, our hubs will ensure that students from low income households, foster care, and English Language Learner backgrounds will receive academic assistance, including 1:1 tutoring, outdoor enrichment activities, and the social-emotional support necessary to not just survive, but thrive under the restrictions created by these circumstances beyond anyone’s control.
Your help will provide funds for supervisory staff, space and equipment, meals, and enrichment programs. Your support has been so crucial in aiding our work in closing the activity gap here in Marin, and then in providing meals to families in need during the first months of SIP. We come to you now asking for assistance in closing the educational equity gap that threatens the present and future well being of many of our youth. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Thanks to your support, since launching our fundraiser early in the SIP orders, Play Marin has purchased 6,000 meals from 15 local restaurants, providing 600 meals every week to families in need in Marin City &, more recently, the San Rafael Canal District.
As our economy begins to open up, our attention is refocused on Play Marin's primary mission—supporting our youth by promoting diversity and inclusion in Marin County through Play. While this has been the driving force in our work since I started Play Marin over 8 years ago, our critical mission is now shared by many more people. I am grateful for all those who have reached out to me these past few weeks asking how they can help bring true equity to Marin. We welcome any such action. Please note that in the event SIP orders re-emerge, we will certainly evaluate the need to return to offering meals to families. While diversity, equity, inclusion and play are our primary mission, we stay committed to being attuned to the needs of our community.
Play Marin has some great things in the works. I would love to add you all to our mailing list so I can keep you updated on the news. If you would like to receive our newsletters and updates first hand, please send an email with your contact information to email@example.com

*Update! Since launching our fundraiser on March 27, Play Marin has been delivering 600 meals per weekend, purchased from local restaurants, to families in need in Marin City. Between this campaign, private foundations, and donor-advised funds, we have raised over $100,000, enough to deliver these 600 meals every weekend through June 21. We now hope to expand to 900 meals to allow us to extend our efforts to help families in the San Rafael Canal area. Thank you again for your support, we could not do this without you!
Dear Friends, we hope you and your families are maintaining your physical and mental health in these unprecedented times. We are ALL being challenged, some more than others. And we all want to help. We are excited to offer an opportunity to support both families in our community and local restaurants who are struggling right now.
Your support is critical in reaching this goal. All gifts are tax-deductible. Thank you for your support!
