Our family started getting involved with CISV (formerly known as Childrens International Summer Village) when Simon was 10, Geo was 8....to have cross cultural and youth leadership experiences and fun, outside of sports and school. But also believing in the idea which started CISV, after WWII--that the ultimate source for world peace in the long term lays with youth, and one way is youth making friends with other youth, from different cultures, religions, races, nations, etc. Simon went to an international Village at age 11 in England, a Step up international program in India at age 14, Geo went to a Village at age 11 in Norway...now Simon on the our CISV Maine Junior Board, next year President...me, Connie, now president of the adult board...lots of learning, eye opening experiences, cross cultural friendships and fun!
Thank you for your interest in our CISV Maine Chapter, helping spread education and experiences for youth in Maine about peace, conflict and resolution, diversity, human rights, and sustainable development! From now through May 30th is our CISV Maine Spring Trifecta for Peace and our family will be doing some walking, biking and possibly a cold lake dip (Brewer or Pushaw lake)! We are fundraising for the International Youth Meeting we will be hosting in July 2022 as well as for other programming we are doing. Thanks for any donation you can make!
