We're asking for your help to finish a project that provides a vital resource to researchers, historians, and the general public.
MCCLS/Odom Genealogy Library has for the last several years been working to digitize every issue of the Moultrie Observer going back to 1894. In our searchable, online archive at http://moultriecoulquitt.advantage-preservation.com/, we have completed 106 years of daily and weekly editions.
We've used library funds, donations, and grant money ($51,000 to date), and now only have from 1984 - 2002 left to finish!
Digitizing the remaining 18 years worth will cost approximately $10,270. Please help fund the remainder, to ensure our rich local history is preserved and accessible to all.
Thank you for supporting your library!
P.S.- Wondering what makes "digitizing" so great? Well, do you remember scrolling through reel after reel of microfilm, taking hours, days, or longer to find the one article you were looking for? Digitization to a searchable archive means you can search by keyword to find what you're looking for. And because it's online, the information you need is right at your fingertips!
