Some days we swim; but sometimes we swim for a bit more. This year, our favorite swimming charitable events have been cancelled. But that hasn’t kept this group out of the water. Greeting the sunrise over the Lake most mornings, we have swum north, south and east (if we could, we’d swim west, but . . . you know, we need water . . . ). We even located the mythical Buoy H!
Each of the charities supported in the inaugural Great Chicago Charity Swim are important. Early stage cancer research, ALS, higher education student-athletes and the beautiful parks and beaches of Wilmette: each deserves the support that will come with the donations raised in this collective effort.
We are swimming as a small group in a larger swimming community: dedicated to open waters, chilly aqua thermals, some underarm chafing and cheery dispositions. You are welcome to join us for an early swim, and you are even more welcome to join us to support the multiple charities identified this year.
