7/21 Update: Many thanks to all who donated and kept Maicol in their thoughts. Sadly, Maicol left this world early this morning. The caravanerxs will miss him dearly. He was a bright, joyful light for many. The funds that were raised have been sent to his mother.

In March of this year, 22-year-old Maycol made the difficult decision to leave his home in Honduras to seek safer living conditions and better opportunities to provide for his mother and loved ones. In Mexico, he spent over a month traveling on the Migrant Caravan, riding trains, buses, and marching alongside hundreds of new friends across the country, demanding justice for immigrants from the governments of the region.
After arriving in Tijuana, Maycol suddenly began feeling extremely weak and his skin changed tone. On July 5th, he was rushed to the hospital, where he was was diagnosed with leukemia.
"I am a fighter. I still feel filled with a warrior spirit, even though my body is struggling at the moment. My spirit is high in the heavens, elevated, ready to fight...I'm no longer fighting for the American Dream, I'm fighting for my life," Maycol said.
Leukemia treatment is extremely expensive in Mexico, and Maycol needs our urgent support. Please help with anything you can, and please spread the word.

En marzo, Maycol, de 22 años, hizo la gran decisión de dejar su hogar en Honduras para buscar condiciones mas seguras y mejores oportunidades para apoyar su mamá y queridos en casa. En Mexico, pasó más que una mes en la Caravana de Migrantes, viajando en tren, bus, y marchando con nuevos amigos a lo largo del país, exigiendo justicia para los migrantes de los gobiernos de la región.
Después de llegar a Tijuana, Maycol empezó a sentirse extremadamente débil, y su piel se cambió de color. El 5 de julio, le tuvieron que llevar de emergencia al hospital, donde estuvo diagnosticado con leucemia.
“Soy una persona que lucha. Me siento con espíritu guerrero, a pesar de que por el momento, mi cuerpo me esta dando la batalla, pero mi alma todavía está por los cielos, levantada, queriendo luchar...ya no estoy luchando por un sueño americano, ahora estoy luchando por mi vida,” dijo Maycol.
El tratamiento para la leucemia es extremamente caro en México, y Maycol necesita nuestro apoyo urgentemente. Por favor, dona lo que pueda, y corre la voz.
