For my mitzvah project, I am collecting donations to go towards the organization Broadway For All. This organization helps kids and teens from all ethnic backgrounds, religions, and financial situations to have access to theater, act, and pursue their passions.
I chose this organization for my mitzvah project because I feel that everyone deserves to have access to Broadway and theater. It isn't always affordable and I believe that everyone should be able to benefit. Another reason I chose this organization is that it emphasizes diversity. I believe it is essential to make sure that theater is as inclusive as possible so that everyone is able to see themselves represented onstage.
Broadway productions, and theater in general, make a difference in people's lives in several ways.
They help people gain self-esteem because playing a role can help you see how much you can achieve. They also help build leadership and teamwork skills because actors and actresses need to work together in order to create and perform a show. And lastly, Broadway and theater open minds and help prevent prejudice.
When people join Broadway For All, they learn about and are exposed to many religions, cultures, ethnic backgrounds, body types, ability levels, and other individual differences. In doing so, they and we can help spread the message that even though God made us in all different shapes and forms, we are all made B’tzelem Elohim - in the image of God.
Broadway For All changes people's lives. Please consider helping this cause by donating money to my mitzvah project. Every amount helps.
