It's that time of year!!! Let's march together against children's cancer!
As many of you know, Maya was diagnosed with a Juvenile Pilocytic Astrocytoma (JPA) brain tumor after an MRI in August 2015. Maya's tumor is a LOW-GRADE glioma tumor and NOT cancerous (thank the Lord)! Maya did undergo low dosage chemo treatments weekly for 14-months. These started in October 2015 and ended in December 2016. The goal of the treatments was to STOP the growth of the tumor. We are happy to say that not only did the tumor stop growing but it even shrunk!! In addition to the tumor, she also has a cyst that formed next to the tumor and this shrunk too!! Not only did the treatments work, but all of the prayers have been answered too!! Maya continues to be in a maintenance plan... and all is stable. GOD IS GOOD!! We will need to continue to monitor Maya's tumor until she is an adult but nothing is stopping her! She remains positive and we are all very grateful! Maya keeps busy with a LOT of activities including basketball, track, flag football, soccer, volleyball, and more basketball!! She also loves spending time with family and friends. Through it all, her smile has always brightened our days and we thank God daily for HIS blessings!
Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital and their Oncology Team are AMAZING!! Some children may not be as fortunate as Maya and we want to continue to raise funds and help in any way that we can! We are, once again, joining Arnie's March Against Children's Cancer!! The donations we raise support the cancer research and clinical trial program at Arnold Palmer Hospital and keep kids and their families together as they battle this awful disease. We want to do our part to help develop better treatment for kids in Central Florida.
Please consider making a tax-deductible donation, no matter how small. This year's event is being held on Tuesday, March 3rd! Thank you in advance for your support! We appreciate all of the continued prayers! We pray that Maya continues to show her courage and strength and remains healthy! And we pray for all of the children and their families who are battling daily.
