Hello! My name is Jenny Penner. I am currently pursuing my Master's Degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
Through my program, I was introduced to an amazing international organization called Range of Motion Project (ROMP). ROMP is a non-profit health-care organization that works to provide prosthetic and orthotic care to those without access to these essential services. During May of this coming year, I will be joining my classmates and other health care professionals on a volunteer trip with ROMP to their clinic in Zacapa, Guatemala. On this trip, we will have the opportunity to work alongside ROMP-Guatemala staff to provide care to local patients with amputations, and to exchange best-practices in prosthetic care, physical therapy and occupational therapy. Our goal will be to take a group of patients from evaluation and casting to delivery and training in one intense clinical week.
The cost for me to participate in this program is $1500 which will cover materials used to create the devices, my housing, local transportation, and some meals. Any money raised over that amount will help pay for my airfare which is not covered under the program fees, and beyond that will be donated directly to the ROMP organization.
Please consider helping me get to Guatemala by donating to this CrowdRise, and thank you in advance for your support!
