As you may know, I am running the SF Marathon on July 29. As you're also probably aware, the Trump Administration's "Zero-Tolerance" policy of criminally prosecuting migrants without visas has separated thousands of children from their parents. I'm pledging to raise $100 per mile, or $2620, to help reunify families and support due process for the most vulnerable among us.
Despite the reversal of the zero-tolerance policy, as of June 20, 2018 over 2,000 children have yet to be reunified with their parents. Politics aside, as an empathetic human being I was heartbroken to read the personal accounts of families being torn apart, and infuriated by the government's woefully inadequate process for reunifying separated families. The Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES) Family Reunification and Bond Fund provides bail bonds and legal services for separated families to help return children to their parents and provide necessary legal representation for an extremely marginalized population.
Any donation you can give, no matter the size, will go a long way. Thank you for your support!
