I'm not a very good runner. And I'm not a massive fan of running. But Luang Prabang has been my home for the last two years, and ALL the proceeds of this half marathon go towards the hospital I've been working at. Lao Friends Hospital for Children is the only paediatric hospital in northern Laos that provides free healthcare for kids, and I consider myself lucky to have been part of this project.
Most people reading this have come from backgrounds where healthcare is a right, not a privilege - but children in this area would go without free medication, treatment and health education were this hospital not to exist. The hospital relies entirely upon charitable donations, and so for one last time I'm going to put my aching knees through another 21km of running in order to raise funds. Every dollar counts, so please donate even a small amount. It takes five minutes, and will make a real difference. Thanks.
