On October 13, I'm running my 5th BAA Half Marathon! This year, I've decided to dedicate my run to the patients served by PIVOT, the organization I just started working for that strives to break the cycles of povery and disease in Madagascar.
When Annabelle and I visited Ifanadiana District, Madagascar, in July, I was struck by the awesome beauty of the place; and by the remoteness of so many of the villages. PIVOT works hard to bring high-quality healthcare to people in the far reaches of the district. Sometimes that means wheeling sick patients on modified stretchers over the long, muddy, rocky paths down to the main road. If they can make that trek when they're ill, surely I can run 13.1 miles!
By supporting this campaign, you're helping to make sure that distance from a health center does not determine a patient's right to quality health care.
