The Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing support to the families of military personnel with ties to Massachusetts who have died as a result of active duty service post 9/11/2001.
Our programs and services aim to provide support and assistance in various forms.
Financial Grants: Eligible family members can receive emergency finanical assistance to keep a household stable during the crisis of losing a family service member, through either our Emergency Casualty Assistance Program or our Basic Needs Program. Grants from these programs have been used by families to pay for funeral costs not covered by the military and uninsured medical expenses.
Cilnical Case Management: Eligible family members can meet with the staff social worker to help them address obstacles to benefits and social services. Referrals. We can provide referrals to resources for mental health providers, military benefit advocates, legal services and financial/estate planning.
Community Building Events: We are proud to offer community support through private social events designed to bring bereaved military families together in an atmosphere of fun and mutual support, as well as large public events serving as reminders about the importance of remembering and honoring our fallen heroes. These public events include a 9/11 Day of Service care package project and the creation of a garden of 37,000 flags in Boston Common on Memorial Day.
