I am honored to run for the Mass General Marathon Team Fighting Kids’ Cancer, One Step at a Time.
I signed up to run in honor of the one of my first friends (and colleagues) in Boston, Alex, and more specifically her daughter, Clara.
For the past two years, Clara has been receiving treatment for Rhabdomyosarcoma (i.e. cancer of the soft tissue).
Their family has been an inspiration to me for many years, but even more so over the past few years.
A marathon is a big mental and physical challenge that I'm excited to take on. But, is nothing compared to the tremendous battle that MGH has been helping this little girl fight. Although the treatment has at times been cruddy she hasn't allowed her beautiful spirit to be dampered.
I also know that MassGeneral has also provided moments of solice, celebration, and fun.
Funds raised are directed to cancer care, research, and programs that enhance the quality of life for patients/families, such as music and art therapy.
Clara's especially a fan of the art therapy programs that are completely funded by dollars raised through the marathon.
I'd be honored if you joined me and MGH in the fight for pediatric cancer with a financial gift and positive thoughts throughout my and my team's training over the next few months. Any size gift makes a difference.
