Hi friends! My name is Lauren and I'm an anesthesia resident at the Massachusetts General Hospital. I'm thrilled to be a member of the Mass General Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Team for the 2020 Boston Marathon.
The Boston Marathon has been a special race to me ever since I first witnessed the event in 2009. While volunteering as an EMT along the course, I was overcome by the tremendous amount of excitement, energy, and positivity that the race brought to the city. I had never run long distances, but I knew that with training, perseverence, and a supportive community I could make it to the finish line. And I did, in 2010 and again in 2014.
This will be my 3rd time running the Boston Marathon. I feel grateful for the opportunity to train and race alongside a motivated group of colleagues, patients, and supporters of my workplace, the Massachusetts General Hospital. To add meaning and purpose to my training, I chose to join the Mass General Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Team.
My goal is to raise $2,000 in support of pediatric cancer patients and families. I can't think of a population that is more deserving of this aid. Please know 100% of proceeds will go directly to clincal care, research, and quality of life initiatives for young cancer patients (NOT to race registration or other fees).
I hope you'll consider joining me in support of this worthy cause by making a small donation here. Thank you!
