RUNNING FOR 2020 VISION IN 2020:
A WORLD WITHOUT BLINDNESS
How can I NOT run in 2020, a year/number that holds special meaning for ophthalmologists?!
I have had the honor of running the past six Boston Marathons for Mass Eye and Ear, raising money to help fund vision research, so this year of 2020 just has to be. I am incredibly proud that with your generous support, my marathon runs over the past six years have raised more than $200,000 for eye research at Mass Eye and Ear! Bring on lucky #7!
And we bring back TEAM REILEY: youngest daughter Julia will be rejoining me on Team Eye and Ear this year. (Julia and her sister Heather both ran in 2016. ) We are proud to carry on a family legacy of supporting vision research at the amazing Mass Eye and Ear: Julia represents the fourth generation. This institution has been near and dear to the Ankeny family since a young retina surgeon named Dr. Charles Schepens saved the sight of Julia's great-grandparents. The fondness for and gratitude to Dr. Schepens led to many years of service and support for the Schepens Eye Research Institute in Boston, and now Mass Eye and Ear. I am honored to serve as a trustee at Mass Eye and Ear, and my father still remains actively involved.
This is a very exciting time right now at Mass Eye and Ear, as the Bold Science. Life Changing Cures Campaign comes to a conclusion in 2020 and approaches its $250 million goal ($231 million as of today). They can now promise that every child will see and hear throughout her lifetime. We run (and we run MANY miles) to make the transformational research for these life-changing cures possible, but we do need your help in reaching our ambitious fundraising goal of $20,000. Each step we take, each mile we run, takes us closer to a world without blindness!
PLEASE JOIN US IN SUPPORTING THE WORK AT MASS EYE AND EAR BY DONATING TODAY. Our personal goal is to raise $20,000 for eye research that will help end blinding diseases so that every child will be able to see.... 2020 Vision in 2020!
Just click on the "Donate" button to the right, or mail a check made payable to "Foundation of Mass Eye and Ear" to Sally Reiley, 5 Doaks Lane, Marblehead, MA 01945
Thank you for your continued support, and we will see you at the FINISH LINE!
