My name is Konstantinos Douglas and I am from Athens, Greece, the final destination of the original Marathon route.
For me, Athens is the city where my Academic Marathon began when I took my first steps to become a Physician. This has been a long road filled with many challenges and beautiful moments.
Last year I ran for the first time in my life the Boston Marathon® as a member of Team Eye and Ear, a group of dedicated runners who are raising money to advance the truly inspiring work of the Massachusetts Eye and Ear.
On April 20, 2020, I will run again the Boston Marathon® with the Team Eye and Ear to support research efforts at Mass Eye & Ear.
As an adolescent, I chose to become a Physician and researcher in order to help people in need. Following graduation from medical school in 2015, I moved to Boston to pursue medical research.
I am currently working as a Research Fellow in Retina at Mass Eye and Ear. I am learning how to take care of patients with complex retinal diseases that cause blindness. Being a fellow at Mass Eye and Ear for the last two years has inspired me to run the Boston Marathon in order to raise money for research in Retina and to develop treatments for retinal diseases.
In particular, I am inspired by my mentor and friend, Dr. Miller, who I believe epitomizes the core values of the Marathon. As a result, I am donating all of the money I raise to support his research with the Harvard Retina Imaging Lab at Mass Eye and Ear.
I have committed to a personal goal of raising at least $8,000. I hope you will support Team Eye and Ear in one of the following ways.
1. You can make a personal donation by clicking http://teameyeandear.org/konstantinosdouglas
2. With a CHECK payable to “Foundation of Mass. Eye and Ear, Inc.” (name KONSTANTINOS DOUGLAS written in the ‘memo’ section of the check)
Feel free to contact me directly at +1 857 230 9210 and email@example.com.
Together we can MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Thank you very much for your thoughtful consideration.
