Hello to all my friends and family!
I am so honored and excited to announce that I have been selected to run the 2020 Boston Marathon for the Mass Eye and Ear Team. I am running in honor of my five year old son Ryan. He was born with a progressive hearing loss and has been a patient at MEEI since he was two weeks old. Ryan was lucky enough to be eligible for cochlear implants. He had his first cochlear implant surgery in his left ear at the age of one, followed by his second surgery in his right ear at the age of three. We were blessed with Dr. Michael S. Cohen who performed both surgeries and has been Ryan's Dr. for the last five years. Dr. Cohen has a love for his children and families like no other, is empathetic and a top-notch surgeon. Thanks to him, the amazing audiologists and all the nurses at MEEI, my son was given "the gift of hearing" and can experience life to the fullest. My family and I are forever grateful. Ryan continues to go to MEEI two to three times a year for checkups. I am proud to say he is thriving and started kindergarten this year.
It is with great passion and motivation I am proud to run and raise money for deafness/hearing loss and cochlear implant research. I would love to help other children and families to have the same opportunities that we have had. This will undoubtedly be my biggest physical challenge yet. Please help me as I embark on this 26.2-mile life-changing journey from Hopkinton to Boston for this very special cause. I hope to make Ryan and my family proud. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Please consider donating and check out my fundraising page.
