Dear family, friends and colleagues,
Due to state lockdowns, travel restrictions etc... changes have been made to the 2020 Challenge to Conquer Cancer. Unfortunately, there will be no ride to Maine. The good thing is there will be a 4 day cycling event. On September 21, 2020, the team will leave from Front Royal, VA and cycle the Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway from North to South. The ride will bring us home to Greenville and end at Prisma on Thursday approximately 3 pm.
My journey has taken on a different path but remains a challenge to raise funds for cancer research, survivorship and treatment.
Let's do it!!!
My family, friends and dear colleagues, On September 19. 2020, I plan to participate in the Challenge to Conquer Cancer. The ride/relay is a 7 day event from Greenville to Lewiston, Maine. The journey is to raise funds for cancer research, survivorship and treatment. We are all in the midst of unprecedented and uncharted territory due to COVID-19. For me this is even more reason to accept the challenge for my brothers and sisters. We know that for patients undergoing treatment and for those having been through treatment may have a weakened immune system which can increase the risk of COVID-19. I started riding my bike in 2009 while undergoing chemotherapy and radiation for metastatic breast cancer. As part of my recovery, riding my bike became a passion for me. A passion that represented my own living through cancer, but most importantly to acknowledge others in the midst of treatment, survivors, and in memory of those no longer with us. During a recent “tune up” appointment with my oncologist, she told me about C3. Knowing how much cycling continued to be part of my recovery, she quickly connected me to others who had been part of C3 for years. I joined the team in 2020. My participating in C3 required no contemplation… I am a survivor of cancer who loves cycling. Please join me…
