When I graduated from Western Michigan University in April, I knew I was ending a chapter and beginning a new journey as a recent college graduate. While it was difficult leaving my well-known and well-loved friends and family, I decided to join the PULSE program in Pittsburgh, PA. PULSE cultivates a community of young servant leaders to transform Pittsburgh. They invite recent college graduates (like myself) to partner with local nonprofits for a year of service and leadership. I am VERY excited about the PULSE program because this gives me the opportunity to challenge myself and to broaden my horizons. Through PULSE, I am able to serve others while learning how to expand my leadership potential.
I am looking forward to many things throughout this upcoming year! I am looking forward to meeting new people, serving a different population, exploring Pittsburgh, and hopefully attending my FIRST EVER Steelers game (more than likely with my dad)! I’m excited to live in a household with other recent college graduates and learn about who they are! My hope for the year is to make a difference in the life of at least one person. I also hope to make more friends and to network as a Social Worker. I joined PULSE as a way to find more about myself- who I am, what I want to do with my life, and to see how far I can push myself. I’ve always been one for challenges, and I know I will face just that (but in a great way). The hardest part will be being farther away from home, but because of the love and support I have, this transition will be easier.
Part of my first task as a PULSE participant is to assemble a team of people who will support me in this work. I realize that I can’t do this work alone, that I need others to come alongside me and partner with me.
I am in the process of raising a minimum of $2500 to cover expenses for this year of service and leadership. Alongside of supporting this cohort, if enough is raised, future cohorts will feel your generous impact! Any amount, no matter how small or large, will go a long way towards helping me meet this goal!

Thank you for your continued investment in my life and in the life of PULSE.
With love and gratitude,
2019-20 PULSE Fellow
