Help us feed the newly hungry in our communty during this time of need.
Due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, Martha’s Kitchen is feeding nearly 1,000 EXTRA meals PER DAY to keep up with the increased number of hungry in our communities and that number is growing.
Our regular food supply chain and donations of excess from corporations and sporting events has been disrupted, and it has become harder to obtain the ingredients needed to meet our commitments to the shelters and organizations we serve.
At the same time, we've seen an overwhelming increase in food requests from day-centers due to school closures, and newly unemployed / furloughed workers. Some of the homeless shelters we serve are also requesting additional meals to keep their residents “sheltered-in-place” and help flatten the curve, instead of turning them out on the streets during the day.
We rely heavily on the generosity of donors and volunteers to provide these services free of charge. The increased demand has been staggering and has resulted in a need of $75,000 per month to cover the additional costs incurred to rise up and address this urgent situation, and to continue to feed the growing number of hungry in our communities.
