Rescue dogs and running…two of my passions have finally collided!
Marley’s Mutts is a non-profit organization located in Southern California that rescues, rehabs, trains, and finds permanent homes for dogs that would otherwise be euthanized in several local high-kill shelters. They also founded the Pawsitive Change Program, through which rescued dogs are paired with California-based inmates. The program is guided by experienced trainers over 14 weeks, during which the inmates work towards vocational accreditation, so that they may be well suited to find work once released, and the dogs work towards their AKC’s Canine Good Citizen Certification.
I began following Marley's Mutts Dog Rescue on Instagram over a year ago when I came across a video of Maple, this sweet, sweet puppy who had undergone severe physical trauma (see link to video above.) Following this organization and seeing how many dogs they have rescued over time has been so inspirational to me, and I wanted to find a way to support them in their efforts. I will be raising money for Marley's Mutts, culminating in running the Los Angeles Marathon on Sunday, March 8th, 2020. Thank you in advance for your support of me and this incredible organization!
