I am honored to be part of the Rebekah's Angels Boston Marthon Team for a second straight year. The first year proved to be a tough run. Although I had previously finished four marathons, I was unable to finish the 2019 Boston Marathon. I was pulled from the race at mile 15 for medical complications associated with kidney stone surgery performed less than two weeks prior to the race. I am running this year to get redemption against the Boston Marathon course. More importantly, I am running to support Rebekah's Angels, a worthy charity with a tremendous mission.
Rebekah's Angels is a charity to help children suffering from PTSD. This charity was founded after Rebekah Varney and her five-year old son were injured during the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing. In addition to suffering through the physical trauma, they also endured the psychological trauma that accompanies such an event. As they worked to improve their own situation, they saw the importance of addressing childhood PTSD. Rebekah's Angels was founded to help children suffering from PTSD caused by childhood trauma. PTSD is a serious condition with long-lasting effects. Rebekah's Angels is fighting to help children cope with associated issues as soon as possible.
Thank you for your consideration. Every contribution counts. If you happen to be in Boston on April 20, please make sure to cheer for the Old, Bald, Slow guy!
