About the Bioneers Youth Leadership Program:
For 27 years, the National Bioneers Conference has connected thousands of people with practical, visionary solutions for humanity's most pressing environmental and social challenges. The Bioneers Youth Leadership Program (YLP) nourishes change by bringing youth—the next generation of visionary leaders—to the conference for training, mentoring and networking. Youth face a challenging future. As drivers of social change, youth need the skills, information, and connections to empower them as change-makers for a healthy planet. The YLP offers a safe, relevant, openhearted space for youth to listen, create, express themselves, ask hard questions and get real answers. The YLP connects youth with cohorts and mentors so they are able to respond creatively and engage fully in building a better world. Your donation is critically important and will give young people the opportunity to learn the skills and strategies to support their activism in the social justice and environmental movements so they can make an impact in their communities and beyond. The YLP promotes youth leadership in a variety of meaningful ways: Youth keynote talks in front of 2000 people featuring breakthrough innovations and ideas for creating a more just and sustainable world. The Community of Mentors program connects youth with experienced dynamic innovators who offer in-person advice and experience to help guide young leaders on their activist paths. Youth-led collaborative art projects that generate powerful group creativity and connection. An open mic session affords youth the opportunity to step up and share their talents and important issues. Each youth scholar enjoys a healthy, delicious, local, organic lunch and snacks, ensuring that we nourish bodies as we seek to nourish change. Youth-led interactive sessions like the Youth of Color Caucus, LBGTQ Talking Circle, Poetry Slam, Soil for Life, Culinary Wellness Concert, and Young Entrepreneurs Leading Social Change give participants a chance to explore, learn, engage and inspire each other. Last year Bioneers provided over 400 scholarships to young deserving activists, almost half were youth of color including over 90 Native American youth. You can be a critical part of awakening the passions of diverse young people and empowering them to create positive change. We need You! We are committed to making the conference accessible to as many diverse young leaders as possible. In 2016, we covered most of the youth scholarship expense out of our operating budget, which not a sustainable solution. We need your help to provide more scholarships. We invite you to partner with us to invest in the leadership development of youth in social and climate movements by donating to this extraordinary opportunity. We ask for your contribution in helping support our efforts to empower the next generation of youth leaders.
