Fundraiser to become the first 100% sustainable rowing facility in the world!
On July 27-28, Marin Rowing Masters (Old people… ages 50 and above) will attempt to break the team-based 24 Hour Ergometer Record as a fundraiser for sustainability. These funds will be used to eliminate the last remaining fossil fuel consumption at the facility, the outboard engines used on all the launches.
We want to make MRA a great example of how adoption of emerging technologies in renewable energy can have a big impact. All donations will go towards the club's mission of promoting the sport of amateur rowing while operating sustainably.
The boathouse is already powered exclusively by solar energy and includes 4 electric vehicle charging stations. The last piece is doing something that has never been done before, using electric propulsion as a replacement for all the gas-burning outboard engines. Once they are all running on batteries with your help, MRA will be the first 100% sustainable rowing club in the world!
As a team, we'll be rowing a Concept2 Rowing machine for 24 hours straight in an attempt to break the world record. 6 people per hour will be rowing (erging) 5x 2 minute pieces each.
24 hours to go!
