The most recent point-in-time count of people experiencing homelessness, reported by the U.S.
Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD), identified 4,338 women Veterans who were experiencing
homelessness, comprising 9.1% of the entire Veteran homeless population. Further, it is estimated that 1–2% of
all women Veterans and 13–15% of women Veterans living in poverty experience homelessness over the course
of a year.
Veteran women are more than twice as likely as non-Veteran women and over three times as likely
as non-Veteran women living in poverty to experience homelessness.
