As many of you know, I have been working as a volunteer and board member for almost 20 years to help establish Tesla Science Center at the site of Nikola Tesla's laboratory in Shoreham, NY.
The project took off in 2012 with crowdfunding that enabled this nonprofit association to purchase the 16-acre site in May 2013. Volunteers assembled the following weekend and regularly over the next several years to help clean up the site that had been abandoned for many years. We intend to restore the historic laboratory building and hope to create a science center that will encourage learning, exploration, and innovation. We have regularly held educational programs in neighboring schools and special events onsite, including an annual celebration of Nikola Tesla's birthday in July.
The next steps include opening a visitor center onsite, scheduled for the summer of 2020. Additional funding is needed to finish restoring Nikola Tesla's laboratory and to create a STEAM center. Please join our team effort by making a year-end contribution to the Tesla Science Center.
