In 2020 I will be applying for the final component of my medical training - neonatal (NICU) fellowship. The passion and wonder I’ve found in the NICU is something I’ve never found anywhere else in life and I cannot wait to make it my career. For the past year I have been working endlessly on multiple NICU research projects outside of my 80 hour work weeks, so clearly NICU is pretty special to me. ;)
2020 will also mark my 11th year of running. I started running in April of 2010 and ran my first half marathon in Chicago with Team to End AIDS in September 2010. I did this again the following year and in total raised over $4000 for the AIDS Foundation of Chicago between those two running seasons. Over the past 10 years I’ve dabbled in running and races here and there but since starting residency in summer of 2018, I fell back in love with running as it’s become my biggest stress reliever. I ran 2 half marathons in 2019 - Chicago and Detroit!
And so 2020 is the year I will finally cross off one of my biggest bucket list items - running a FULL MARATHON. The entire 26.2. In Chicago!!
I am proud to say that I get to run the 2020 Chicago Marathon as part of a charity team for March of Dimes and will be fundraising for this charity that is so special to me. If you don’t know March of Dimes, they are a nonprofit that works to reduce premature birth rates, support their mothers, help babies survive and thrive, advocate for appropriate infant healthcare, and pioneer research to combat the biggest threats to babies and their mothers.
Please support me in my fundraising efforts as I train to run the 2020 Chicago Marathon with the March of Dimes team. Any amount is greatly appreciated and 100% of your donations go to the cause, and who wouldn't want to help save babies?!
TL;DR - I’m running the 2020 Chicago Marathon and need your money for tiny babies! :)
