Hi everyone, Mark and Robbi here. This October, we are running our first ever marathon at the Sunrype Okanagan Marathon. We are doing so to raise funds for Chromophobe Renal Cell Carcinoma, a very rare form of kidney cancer.
chRCC amounts to only 5% of all kidney cancer cases. Since it is such a rare subtype of kidney cancer, there is not enough research being done. There are no proven therapeutic options specifically for chRCC because not enough research has been conducted.
With a lack of charitable organizations devoted to ChRCC, it is our goal to raise funds for top researchers who are doing work studying this rare form of cancer.
We have recently gotten into direct contact with Dr. Elizabeth Henske, a medical oncologist and Harvard professor who is at the forefront of research for ChRCC.
Based out of her lab ‘Henske Lab’ which is located at Harvard Medical School affiliate Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Henske and her team work tirelessly to study the mechanisms that contribute to the formation of Chromophobe Renal Cell Carcinoma tumours, as well as develop therapeutic strategy for patients with metastatic chRCC, for whom there are currently no proven therapeutic options.
Our fundraising efforts are directed towards Dr. Henske and her team at Henske Lab.
It is very important for us to make our contributions directly to the people our funds would make the most difference to, and those are Dr. Elizabeth Henske and her team at the Henske Lab at Brigham & Women's Hospital.
We appreciate any amount of donation received if you are financially able to provide it. We also appreciate you spreading the word and sharing this page!
Thank you so much, on this page we will share our training updates and fundraising milestones.
Together we can raise funds and provide hope for patients living with rare kidney cancer!
