As we all navigate, struggle, and find moments of surprise and joy in these tough weeks and months, Maple Street School is holding our families, community, staff, alumni, friends and everyone affected by COVID-19 close.
As a community-emergent preschool devoted to inclusion and play, we have worked very hard to get a virtual program up and running as soon as we made the decision to close our doors. Our teachers, staff, administrators, parents, and specialty instructors are helping Maple Street students to connect, play, sing, read, breath, move, dance, and learn in the virtual world.
We are all learning to be flexible (with our bodies and our minds), singing hello with friends while staying home, and even supporting each other through dance parties and evening social hours.
We have also opened up some of our Zoom School hours to the whole community for families who are looking for play-based online learning and connection. Take a peek at our schedule and please email Wendy@MapleStreetSchool.org if you're interested in participating.
In addition, we are committed to opening our doors again and doing so in a way that is as safe and stable as possible. We are asking for your help with fundraising so that we can continue to support all of our staff, students, and families at the same level we always have and that we can re-open when that becomes a possibility. This includes a commitment to diversity, scholarships, safety, gender equality, morning cafe and food justice, community volunteering, supporting local business, afterschool care, music and arts, and on and on.
If you have participated in our Zoom to the Moon activities (and even you haven't but you love us) please consider making a donation. In these uncertain times, your support will go so very far in ensuring our critical Maple Street staff and community—including full and part-time teachers and afterschool teachers—can continue to be stable and safe.
Thank you and we can't wait to see you in some of our Zoom to Moon Rooms!
