We are located in the Pensacola, Florida area. Our Community currently faces a unique challenge: The Coronavirus hit our nation and began to affect in many ways Due to this pandemic many have lost jobs, lives, and continue to deal with the affects emotionally.
While continued social distancing limitations of fundraising , the community is feeling the financial effect of the virus. Dr. Dorothy Brown pivoted services, while embracing a proactive approach to fundraising to continue providing Mental Health/Substance Use Counseling through telehealth.
Not only with adults , it has affected our Youth and teens for afterschool programs which included emotional management, decision making, problem solving ,and goal setting as well school subject assistance. Youth enrolled in the program demonstrated improved social and emotional learning and life skills including Emotion management; goal-setting, decision making; problem solving.
There has been a great response from the community requesting counseling due to past drug and alcohol use as well as dealing with the COVID-19. Some have felt more pressure and began to get depressed . It is M&A Community Outreach Center , Inc. heartfelt appeals and detailed impact reporting that we ask for help to increase the ability to provide needed services. Services have become virtually and as we start to get back to some of a norm through social distancing, the community needs the needed support.
