Dianne Fonseca will be a 20-year breast cancer survivor in June 2019. Because of the visits and emotional support, she received from the American Cancer Society through the Reach to Recovery Program, she became involved as a volunteer shortly after her diagnosis, sharing her story and supporting other women who also were diagnosed.
Since 2005, she has devoted most of her time to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Providence. She is passionate about involving young people in her mission and is always striving to raise awareness as well as funds. Dianne’s team, Keeping the Pace with Dianne, has been the top fundraising team in Rhode Island for many years and top 20 in the nation, raising a total of over $350,000 to date.
With the continued support of her family and friends, Dianne has planned and organized several different fundraising events each year to reach her goal, the largest being her annual fundraiser at Kirkbrae Country Club.
This will be Dianne’s 8th year for her annual fundraiser. What began as a 13-year celebration eight years ago, has become one of the largest fundraisers for the American Cancer Society and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer in Providence. Her event has grown to 400 attendees and raising a record of $48,000 at one event.
