In February of 2020 the St. Louis Metro community was severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Butterfly Haven immediately stepped up to the plate and began assisting not only foster families and families impacted by crisis situations of house fires, infestation, flooding, etc., we opened our doors to the community at large.
Many people lost their jobs or were furloughed. Many of those families live paycheck to paycheck. The loss of their only source of income left them unable to buy sufficient groceries, hygiene products and sanitary items for their families. Butterfly Haven's "What's In Your Hands" Pantry became a much needed resource for non-perishable foods, hygiene care products and diapers.
Because Butterfly Haven has a small volunteer staff and serves families by appointment, we were able to quickly adapt, institute COVID-19 safety protocol, and open up daily to serve our community. Some families have come from as far as 1 1/2 hours away to receive assistance.
Butterfly Haven has a small Resource Room with clothing, shoes, dishes, bedding, beds, decor, and baby items; our "What's in your hands?" Pantry with non-perishable food, hygiene items, sanitary products, and diapering supplies. Each day we serve families and then we re-stock the inventory of resources so we can serve again the next day.
Butterfly Haven also assembled a variety of care packages of toilet paper, hygiene items, first aid supplies, snacks, games, puzzles, art supplies and laundry detergent for our local Police Department, truckers/delivery workers and Foster Families to support them during this pandemic.
Your donations go 100% to purchasing items needed to continue to serve families. Butterfly Haven is staffed entirely by volunteers. We do not have a paid staff. Our organization relies on the generosity of our donors to operate and serve.
